General Synod / Te Hīnota Whānui
Stewards Programme
Youth
have had an excellent opportunity to participate at the
meeting of General Synod in 2006 through a programme called "Te Pononga", providing training and support to Youth stewards at GS06.
"The work of the stewards is essential to the success of the Synod,"
said Andrew Tamihere (Steward Coordinator). "We want to show our support for Synod through service".
"We also want to show our support for the stewards by serving them also,
offering opportunities for learning, and being alongside them
through the week".
Stewards at GS06 provide support for Synod staff by doing a number
of tasks including photocopying, welcoming guests, providing media
support, and general help. These stewards will also be helping to
facilitate daily Bible Studies for all delegates, and observing and
reflecting on the work of this Synod. Reflections from the stewards
will be posted online and shared amongst our youth netwroks.
The
stewards have been presented with a comprehensive programme of
training and support, including daily briefing on the agenda and
progress of this Synod, as well the opportunity to "buddy" with
Bishops and delegates experienced in the life of General Synod.
